Describe a time when you were not allowed to use a cellphone.
You should say:

- Why you were not allowed to use your cellphone
- And explain how you felt about it
One experience that immediately springs to mind is a time when I was not allowed to use my cellphone during an important examination at school. It may sound like a fairly ordinary incident, but I still remember how strangely uncomfortable I felt because, by that time, my phone had become such an integral part of my daily routine.
It happened when I was in my senior school years. We were having a crucial examination, and before entering the examination hall, our teacher strictly instructed us to switch off our phones and hand them over. The reason was quite obvious: the school wanted to prevent cheating and, more importantly, eliminate any possibility of distraction. I reluctantly gave my phone to the teacher and walked into the classroom.
At first, I was slightly irritated. I kept thinking about the messages I might be missing and wondering whether someone had tried to contact me. There was almost a strange psychological urge to check my phone, even though I knew perfectly well that I could not. It made me realise how dependent I had become on something that was supposed to make my life easier.
However, after about an hour, something unexpected happened. I gradually stopped thinking about my phone and became completely absorbed in my examination. There were no notifications, no social-media updates and no temptation to pick up the device every few minutes. I was simply sitting there, thinking, writing and concentrating.
When the examination ended and I finally got my phone back, I felt relieved, but I also felt slightly embarrassed by how eagerly I reached for it. That moment gave me a small but meaningful reality check.
Looking back, I think being deprived of my cellphone for those few hours was actually beneficial. It taught me that technology is a wonderful servant but a terrible master. More importantly, it made me appreciate the rare moments when I can disconnect from the digital world and be completely present in what I am doing.
So, although I disliked being without my phone initially, the experience ultimately made me more conscious of my dependence on technology and the importance of occasionally putting the phone aside.
